Poudre River Fest
Join us for the VIRTUAL Poudre RiverFest!
You’re invited to virtually experience and celebrate the Cache la Poudre River during the Poudre RiverFest starting Monday, August 24th thru Saturday, August 29th. This six-day event will feature a variety of programming including Family Fun activities, Lunch and Learn sessions, Explore the Poudre River content and streamed Live Entertainment every day.
Poudre RiverFest is a free, family-friendly festival that celebrates the Poudre River, promotes restoration, and educates people about our river corridor, an important natural resource in our community. The festival features hands-on activities for children and adults to explore the role of the river as an important habitat for wildlife, a lively recreation area, and a source for clean drinking water.
Rocky Mountain Flycasters has a presentation on Thursday at 3 p.m. about Greenback Cutthroat Reintroduction so be sure to sign up. Visit the virtual programming page to create your own customized Poudre RiverFest calendar. It looks like an amazing lineup of events.

Poudre Headwaters Research Project
Poudre Headwaters Research Project
Poudre Headwaters Field Research
Rocky Mountain Flycasters volunteers are providing field support to a Poudre Headwaters (PHP) research project headed up by Dr. Kanno with Colorado State University. The research will help support the PHP in two key areas. First, PIT tag implementation of existing Brook Trout will help monitor upstream movement thus providing essential information for designing effective barriers. Second, collection of spatial population data using genetic analysis of existing Brook Trout will help identify habitat connectivity on a landscape scale. Both activities go hand in hand to help design and implement effective barriers to isolate cutthroat trout populations over the long-term.
The sites for July 29 are Forrester and Sand Creeks.
