Poudre Headwaters Research Project
Poudre Headwaters Field Research
Rocky Mountain Flycasters volunteers are providing field support to a Poudre Headwaters (PHP) research project headed up by Dr. Kanno with Colorado State University. The research will help support the PHP in two key areas. First, PIT tag implementation of existing Brook Trout will help monitor upstream movement thus providing essential information for designing effective barriers. Second, collection of spatial population data using genetic analysis of existing Brook Trout will help identify habitat connectivity on a landscape scale. Both activities go hand in hand to help design and implement effective barriers to isolate cutthroat trout populations over the long-term.

The sites for July 29 are Forrester and Sand Creeks.
