The Loss of a Dear Friend
Rocky Mountain Flycasters mourns the loss of a dear friend, dedicated conservationist, and exceptional individual, David Piske. He passed away peacefully on August 8th at the age of 94.
Dave was a driving force in the conservation community. Before moving to Colorado in 2005, he co-founded the Potomac Patuxent Chapter of Trout Unlimited. Here, he laid the groundwork for RMF’s renowned conservation program and was instrumental in establishing the Big Thompson Watershed Coalition (BTWC) and the Coalition of the Poudre River Watershed (CPRW).
A tireless advocate for our natural resources, Dave served on the boards of RMF and the BTWC, volunteered extensively with the US Fish and Wildlife Service in Rocky Mountain National Park, and devoted countless hours to a variety of conservation projects.
His extraordinary contributions were recognized with numerous awards, including Outstanding Volunteer from Colorado Trout Unlimited in 2012 and Exemplary Conservation Volunteer and Lifetime Achievement honors from RMF in 2013 and 2017, respectively.
Dave will be deeply missed. May he rest in peace and continue to inspire us all.
A Celebration of Life will be held on September 8, 2024. For details, please contact Elanah Gubernick at Allnutt Funeral Service in Fort Collins, Colorado.
The family has asked, in lieu of flowers, contributions in David's memory may be made to the Rocky Mountain Flycasters Chapter of Trout Unlimited, supporting a cause close to his heart.
Donations can be made through RMFTU’s Donation PayPal Portal, (Button Below). Please add a Note with Dave’s name: “In honor of Dave Piske”
Thank You All,
