Fall 2023 Stream Monitoring Data Retrieval Campaign
In the second half of September 2023 Rocky Mountain Flycasters (RMF) volunteers will begin to retrieve stream temperature data from 26 temperature sensor sites on small tributaries of the Poudre River. To prepare for the Fall 2023 stream temperature data retrieval campaign, we held a Volunteer Training Field Day on Saturday, August 19, 2023. Volunteers carpooled to the Bennett Creek stream monitoring site for training in installing, maintaining and retrieving data from stream temperature sensors. Volunteers also received training on retrieving data from the pilot water quality monitoring station at the Bennett Creek site.
To participate in the Fall 2023 Stream Temperature Data Retrieval Campaign please email me at phil.wright@rmftu.org to express your interest. The campaign will kick off in the second half of September and may continue into early November as icing weather conditions permit. We ask volunteers to go into the field with a partner for safety. If you have already been trained, consider taking a new or less experienced volunteer to provide a training opportunity. I will plan to match volunteers with partners and with geographical area lead volunteers to provide for an efficient scheduling of the data retrieval field work.
You and others can sign up to volunteer with the RMF Stream Monitoring Project at https://rmftu.ivolunteer.com/stmp_2023. If you have questions about the Stream Monitoring Project please email me at phil.wright@rmftu.org. See you on the stream - Phil Wright
