Pat's Rubberlegs

April 2023

By Marty Staab

Pat Dorsey modernized the venerable "Girdle Bug" with buggy variegated chenille and spanflex legs that last forever. Clearly a stonefly pattern, it is a big, wiggly chunk of meat that excites fish even in waters that have no salmonflies. It's a perfect lead fly for the underwater equivalent of a Hopper/Dropper rig - it is often trailed by a dropper that can be anything from zebra midges to squirmy worms.
