Enter to Win RMFTU's Steve Fosie Handcrafted Bamboo Fly Rod and Ross Reel
This bamboo rod is one of 13 unique bamboo fly rods, each made exclusively and specifically for documenting the remaining 13 species of cutthroat trout. It is considered a medium-fast action rod designed for a four weight line. The F. E. Thomas taper is well suited for small stream dry fly fishing and should be able to handle fish up to about 2 1/2 pounds. It's an easy casting rod that is a pleasure to fish all day long.
This bamboo fly rod, is the only rod made by this rod maker (Steve Foisie of Washington State) for documenting the Greenback Cutthroat trout in its native habitat in Herman Gulch, Colorado. This is definitely a one-of-a-kind rod! It is a work of art
The rod maker, Steve Foisie, used this rod to catch one Greenback Cutthroat in Herman Gulch on August 15, 2023, after which the rod was retired and donated to Rocky Mountain Flycasters chapter of Trout Unlimited to help with fundraising efforts.
The package includes the bamboo rod and a Special Edition TU Greenback Cutthroat Colorado Ross Reel, 2/3 weight (only 495 produced). The total value of the package is ~$2500+

The Poudre Headwaters Project is the cornerstone conservation project of Rocky Mountain Flycasters. For many years, the chapter has been involved in ongoing native trout restoration efforts in the Cache la Poudre watershed including the North Fork of the Poudre and the headwater tributaries of the Poudre River near Rocky Mountain National Park. We are honored to be a collaborator in the Poudre Headwaters Project (PHP), which is the largest restoration effort of Greenback Cutthroat Trout in the history of Colorado.
