BMI Sampling 2022

In a collaborative project RMF volunteers have been working with the Big Thompson Watershed Coalition to sample Benthic Macro Invertebrates in sites along the Big Thompson River and its North Fork. We will be expanding the number of sites and are in need of additional volunteers so we can complete the sampling in a day or two. The sampling is not strenuous; most of the sites are close to a parking area. We would like volunteers to be able to participate for the next two years. The data will be used to determine the impact of siltation from burn scars as well as comparing sites that were restored after the 2013 flood with sites that were not restored on the major dietary food source for trout.
