Three Trout Unlimited Chapters (Boulder Flycasters, Rocky Mountain Flycasters and St. Vrain Anglers) along with Arbor Anglers of Lafayette, CO and the Big Thompson Watershed Coalition will be sponsoring a stream clean-up on the Big Thompson below Estes Park on Saturday, July 27, 2024, from 9 AM to noon.
There should be plenty of time to catch the afternoon hatch after the event. We hope to have enough volunteers to be able to clean up most of the fishing pull outs and parking areas on Highway 34 between Olympus Dam and Forks Park in Drake.
We will supply nitrile gloves, trash bags, safety vests and trash grabbers as well as coffee, water and snacks. If possible, please bring waders. Since the volunteers will be working on the parking areas/pull-offs off Highway 34 all volunteers should be over the age of 16.
We will meet at 8:45 AM at the East side of the Estes Park Visitors Center, 500 Big Thompson Ave. which is across the street from McDonalds. We will have sign-in tables set up so we will be easy to find.
Please sign up in advance at https://rmftu.ivolunteer.com/big_t_cleanup so we can get a good idea of how many people to expect.
If you have additional questions please email Fred Eller at fredeller@icloud.com. We will furnish more details as we get closer to the event.
