“Discover” is a part of the STREAM Series oriented to youth, adults, and families. Taking the curriculum of an introduction to fly fishing this program utilizes a series of presentations and practices. Participants can expect to learn about the equipment for fly fishing, how to identify trout habitat, trout diet and macroinvertebrates, what fishing flies resemble and how standard fly patterns are tied, how to cast a fly rod, and the role conservation plays in thriving trout streams.
One of the ways we preserve fly fishing and watershed environments is to share our enjoyment and knowledge of both with the youth, adults, and families that have an interest in learning what it's all about. So, Discover Fly Fishing & the River is a way to further encourage involvement and appreciation for watershed conservationist and fly fishing, it's also how we can ensure the future of what is important to us. The Education Committee has been making all of the arrangements for this workshop. There are some leaders and instructors already committing to help, but just about everybody can be a volunteer. Volunteers don’t have to know everything about fly fishing, they just need to share whatever they do know.
