Trip Name: Gray Reef Cancelled due to COVID-19
Trip Lead: Ben Zomer
Participants: 8 max
Dates: October 2-4, 2020 – Friday-Sunday trip
Location: Gray Reef on the North Platte south of Casper, WY
Details: Springtime in WY is normally cold and windy – so bring your layers to stay dry and warm.
We’ll wade fish near Alcova Dam, nymphing under an indicator with small midge larva patterns and possibly with small BWO nymph patterns such as RS2s and Loop Wing emergers in size 18-20. Other good patterns are the Gray or Black Pine Squirrel Leech, size 10-12, and the Reef Worm or Red Rock Worm, sizes 12-18. These fish are big and strong – you can get by with a 5 wt rod, but with the size of the fish and the wind, it might be better with a 6 or 7 wt rod.
Transportation: We will carpool from Ft Collins to the Platte
