Stream Monitoring Workshop
Rocky Mountain Flycasters (RMFTU) will hold a Stream Monitoring Workshop from 1-4 PM June 10, 2023 at the Innosphere located at 320 E Vine Dr, Fort Collins, CO 80524.
At the Stream Monitoring Workshop you will learn about the conservation basis and methods for stream monitoring from RMFTU volunteers and our U.S. Forest Service partners. We plan to invite additional regional partners to contribute their views and experiences on stream monitoring.
Workshop attendees will learn how to install stream monitoring equipment, how to retrieve data, and how to report their findings using electronic records on the RMFTU.org cloud workspace. We encourage both experienced prior stream monitoring volunteers as well as new participants to attend the Workshop as we have recently updated our protocols and equipment.
RMFTU has conducted stream temperature monitoring in the Poudre River watershed in support of native trout restoration in conjunction with the U.S. Forest Service since 2018. In 2022, we added a water quality monitoring pilot project. The photo above shows RMF volunteers Roger Slocomb and Guy Turenne retrieving water quality data at the Bennett Creek pilot installation site. In 2023 we hope to expand the water quality monitoring project with new partners in support of wild trout conservation.
