2023 Trout Expo Was a BIG Success

The RMFTU Trout Fishing Expo – the Chapter’s annual fundraiser event –  was a great success on Saturday, March 11, from 11am to 4pm.  

We had great attendance (315 tickets sold, plus nearly 60 other folks there to tie flies and represent 19 different local vendors and fly fishing companies) and nearly tripled the net revenue made in prior years - more than $18,000 this year!

I want to again thank:

· Our Title Sponsors (JAX Outdoor Gear and SCHEELS)  –  their sponsorship made a huge difference in covering most of our expenses for the Expo.

· A huge “Thank You” to St Peter’s fly shop, who donated the awesome rod and reel that netted $3400 in our on-line raffle!

· All of our members who volunteered to help that day – we had about 30 member volunteers who helped make the magic happen. 

· More than 60 businesses and individuals who donated items for the silent auction and raffle.

· 45 veterans from Platte Rivers Veterans Fly Fishing who attended

· 20 expert demonstration fly tyers

· 18 exhibitors

· Three speakers: Grant Houx, Karin Miller, and Chris Kreuger

What did all that add up to? An amazing day of fly tying and trout related fun, great door prizes, a great silent auction, family fun, and one of the best days I have had in a long time just getting to visit and hang out with like-minded, trout crazy fanatics!
