Minutes - February 13, 2019

Called to order by president, Mickey McGuire. Secretary absent. Present: Mickey McGuire, Ron Dickson (guest), Dennis Cook, Rick Musselmann (guest), Wil Huett, Paul Wehr, Dave Beede (guest), Dave Morse, Brian Hoag (guest), Ryan Hogan, Colin Glover, Frank Bub, Phil Wright, Scott Bailey (guest). A quorum was present.

  1. President Comments

    1. Regarding the CTU winter meeting. CTU fundraisers will include dog collars ($10), raffle tickets for a fishing trip to Montana, raffle tickets for a Boulder Boatworks TU drift boat ($100 each, 500 tickets).Board agreed to support the drift boat project.

    2. Dick Jeffries is stepping down from CTU Board.

    3. A. Borland, Larimer County Natural Resources, is recruiting a RMF speaker for fireside chats on June 8 & July 6. Three volunteers needed per event.

    4. Jen K. of the Coalition for the Poudre River is recruiting a RMF person to assist with an informational film on the river

    1. The Consent Agenda was accepted.

  3. New Business

    1. Wil Huett reviewed the RMF Google Suites

      1. He is creating a file system consistent with TU topic categories

      2. Inputs and advice are solicited

      3. Wil is happy to answer questions and teach RMF members

    2. Cargill is donating $7500 for a conservation project. RMF needs to come up with a proposal.

    3. Colin Glover will take the lead to promote a Film Festival held by Saint Peter’s Fly Shop.

  4. Old Business

    1. The Fly Tying Expo status was discussed in detail. See the separate document.

    2. Dennis Cook discussed the nominations for the 2019-20 board membership. He is looking for more recruits.

    3. Frank Bub reported on the Big thompson River Fishing Pier project. An initial design for 2 signs (fish and their food, a healthy river ecosystem) has been developed. Fossil Incorporated prepared an invoice for 2 signs similar to the one currently there at a cost of $2390 plus shipping. This should be covered by the $2300 from Embrace-a-Stream and $500 from Alpine Anglers (Estes Park TU). Approval by a large number of players is required. The pier dedication is planned for June 10.

    4. Dave Morse indicated the Gateway Park Adopt-a-Trail day will be June 8.

    5. Dave Morse also reported on the Platte Rivers Veterans Fly Fishing (PRVFF) annual fundraising banquet on 30 March at Little America in Cheyenne. Tickets are $75. The funds will support fly tying and rod building at Loveland, Greeley, Laramie, and Cheyenne, and no-cost veteran fly fishing trips during 2019.

    6. Dennis Cook reported on a request from member Rich Bader asking that RMF adopt a City of Fort Collins trail section along the Poudre River between Timberline and Prospect. The proposal was tabled for further discussion. It was noted that this is not a “cold water” part of the river, so not really within the RMF area of interest.

    7. Phil Wright reported on the Poudre River Forum. Over 600 attended. Phil reported on the temperature sensor program and the greenback recovery programs.

    8. Next meeting planned for March 13, 2019, 6:30 PM, at the Hop Grenade.

    9. Ryan Hogan asked committee chairs prepare 2019-2020 budget inputs for the next board meeting.
